Minimal Life

Calm the clutter calm your mind…

  • When you’ve finally arrived

Two weeks ago, a dear friend of mine invited me over for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Toward the end of our visit, she handed me a small bag and made the comment that while deciding what to get me she opted for a small and simple gesture because I wouldn’t want “a bunch of…

  • Life Uncluttered…

Life is so unpredictable. What began as a six-month journey will abruptly come to a halt at the two-month mark. As I prepare for my husband’s unexpected return I can’t help but be grateful for the fact that I deliberately chose to keep this home so bare and basic. Because now at a moment’s notice…

  • Finding Clarity

At the start of this month, I was overjoyed to have the opportunity to finally go all in and live my dream life as a minimalist. And although minimalism is huge part of me, I quickly discovered what was even more important than the things I thought I wanted. I found clarity. We all have…

  • Highs and Lows

What began as an incredible week quickly came to a halt as the flu hit my entire family. Rarely (if ever) do I get sick, but this time around I found myself confined to bed for want of strength and energy. The surest way to know that something has gone awry in my home is…

  • Sweep it under the couch…

Today I did what I do all other days; I spent the majority of my time cleaning. Organizing this, moving that there, picking up ten pairs of shoes up off the floor for the millionth time. It’s exhausting, yet I can never seem to fight it, especially when I’m stressed or worried which is quite…

  • What more do you need?

We as a culture have become completely consumed with consumerism. Our entire lives and validity revolve around the acquisition of stuff, and for what?As the saying goes…. “Money can’t buy happiness”. No sole item we can purchase will ever bring us true joy and fulfillment. We might find pleasure in the item initially but eventually…

How it all began…

I’ve been pursuing minimalism for eight years now, and in that eight years my husband and I have moved approximately eight times. But each move to me was just another opportunity to down-size, declutter and minimize our total amount of belongings to the point of my personal satisfaction; because minimalism is different for everyone.
Presently we are in the process of yet another move from our homestead to an apartment in the city while my husband is away at bootcamp. For me this will be the moment of truth, my one opportunity to go all out and see just how minimalist I truly am. Needless to say I am SO excited for this summer, to finally officially become a true minimalist – at least by my standards, my husband believes I’ve already achieved that, but there’s always room for improvement, right?

So come along with me as we delve into the world of simplicity and serenity, and together we can challenge our consumer driven mindsets and gain joy through finding more by owning less.
